Where the hell am I? :: stuff - watches - Alpha Yachtmaster

What the hell is an Alpha? Looks like a Rolex to me. Well, yeah, I think it wants to be. But instead has most likely rolled off the same assembly lines as many of the fakes out there, just relabeled as an Alpha instead.

Anyway, these things were all the rage for about three days on the Watch-U-Seek Invicta Forum back in November 2004 or so. They were snapping them up left and right. So, eventually, after the hype died down, I thought I'd give one a try. I put in a stupidly low-ball offer, thinking that I would be outbid in a heartbeat. Instead I won the damn thing. Huh, how about that!

The weight of the watch is pretty substantial, and the dial is a nice glossy black. I dig the bezel, which, unfortunately rotates both ways, which it should not. Otherwise it's a slick looking watch.
