Where the hell am I? :: stuff - watches - No-Brand Marina Militare

This watch may be the next best thing to having a Panerai, near as I can tell anyway. Helps that I haven't actually ever held or worn the real deal. Probably a good thing. This is a far less expensive homage to the Panerai brand, holding all of the trademark looks at a fraction of the price. It arrive on my door step March 15th (took a while to get here from Hong Kong) and I was instantly pleased. It came in a nice presentation box, had an additional strap (the color of which I can only describe as kind of pinkish-orange? No clue. It's ugly, anyway. It is nice and big at 44mm (and after wearing this one the 47mm RXW Marina Militare is definitely out of the question) and it sits well and impressively on my wrist.

I took some time over the summer of 2004 to remove the seconds hand, to give it a more Panerai Base look. And best of all, it still works after my surgery. One of the screws for the Don Ginsler strap I have on fell out, so it's operating with a replacement from an old pair of glasses. Since Panerai's winning lawsuit against watchmaker RXW, causing them to cease production of their Marina Militare, this one seems to have vanished from eBay as well.
