Where the hell am I? :: stuff - watches -
Seiko 6139-6000 Chronograph
This is one of two watches that I bought from the same seller. Both turned
out to have some minor issues. This one came with the wrong case back, labeled
as a 6139-7020, I believe this one is actually a 6139-6000, -6002 or -6005. Hard
to tell exactly as each model # could have several variations. I opted to have
it serviced and cleaned up. Turns out it was a bear and was very gunked up
inside. My repair guy said it should have been a $100 job, however he had only
quoted me $50, so that's what he charged me. We found that the inner-rotating
bezel did not function as the proper crown had been replaced at some point, so
it is now fixed (I just saw in the seller's description that it has a "Fixed
Internal Bezel"). The second hand was so bad he had to use JB Weld to keep it
from just randomly spinning.
So, another eBay find that turned out to not be as good as one hopes. But, it
wasn't all bad. It's working well now and keeping really great time. It's a bear
to set the date, but, that's minor.
