Where the hell am I? :: stuff - watches - Seiko Sportsmatic

I had bought this watch as it appeared to be an inexpensive, older automatic Seiko that I thought might be a fun one to own. It didn't look pristine, but decent enough to think that with some service it could look real nice. I found out after I bought it that the seller (sophon_l) is less than a trustworthy person. He had apparently misrepresented several watches he had sold and had pieced some together from various Seikos and passed them off as the real, complete thing. So, naturally, I was instantly concerned that I had been had. All I could do is wait for the watch to show up.

Well, it did, thankfully. Not being a Seiko expert I don't know what's messed up with this one or not. One person noted that the outside track is missing the minute markers, and it does look like there should be something there. the case is a little beat up, but the crystal is in pretty good shape, but I'm not sure if it is original. I don't know if the movement is original either as I don't know enough or have a back opener anyway even if I did. So that will have to wait.

Overall, I like the look of the watch. I think that if I get it serviced and cleaned up it could be all right. Definitely a learning experience that you can't just trust eBay's feedback.
