Where the hell am I? :: stuff - watches - Timex Dynabeat Electric

This was supposed to be my birthday present to myself, an inexpensive vintage watch from the late 60's or early 70's, the era of the transition between mechanical and quartz watches. From what I was told by a PMWF member this one is a mix between the two, not truly mechanical and not truly quartz. The watch is in like-new condition and looks like it could be only a couple years old.

All of which doesn't matter much because it doesn't work. New battery yielded zero results. The guy at the watch shop (which admittedly was a mall kiosk) thought a good cleaning might help, so I have it with my other project watches awaiting the time when I have the $ to get it serviced.
